Trek for Technology Walk-A-Thon
The St. Pius X Technology Walkathon “Trek for Tech”, is an annual event to raise both funds and awareness for our commitment to enhancing school technology. The ‘Trek for Tech’ is held each Spring and is a much anticipated event for students!
Our Technology Vision
St. Pius X School is known for its strong technology curriculum. Knowing the use of technology will be an integral part of our students’ lives, it is our responsibility to prepare students for their future. Our classrooms must have equipment that is ahead of the curve. Fully integrated into instruction, technology supports new strategies for teaching and learning. In a technology-rich, student-centered classroom, the teacher serves as a facilitator of instruction, coach, and mentor. Technology can offer a wealth of information spanning the globe. Technology will never replace the teacher, but will enhance the learning that takes place in our school. St. Pius X students develop a skill and comfort level with technology that will have a significant positive impact on their future success.
As a school ,we are committed to the ongoing development of infrastructure, hardware, software, and quality professional development related to technology resources in order to implement all of these efforts successfully within the learning environments of our children. Staff will be able to prepare students to effectively and efficiently communicate, problem solve, and function in the 21st century.
Where we are
As a school, we can offer a 1:1 student-to-laptop computer ratio (Apple platform age of 5 years or less) in classrooms via our 4 fully equipped mobile laptop carts (each hosting 28 laptop computers). The school is equipped with wireless internet service, and all core subject teachers have a multi-media computer with Internet access in their classrooms. Over 88% of our homerooms have interactive whiteboard technology (Smartboards) in every classroom.
