Attendance

Regular attendance is essential for students if they are to make progress in their school work.  Extended absences are discouraged unless justified (e.g. serious illness).  If the student is absent, the parent/guardian must notify the school office before one half hour after the morning session begins (by 8:45am). 

Attendance is recorded by classroom teachers in PowerSchool each day.
Absences are recorded as follows: 

• ½ day absent if student arrives 90 minutes or more after the start of the school day (if normal start, 9:45am or after) OR if a student leaves 90 minutes or more early before the end of the school day (if normal end, 1:45pm or before)
• Students who miss less than 90 minutes during the school day are marked "tardy-medical" or "excused tardy" depending on the reason for the absence.
• Students are marked "unexcused tardy" if they are not IN the classroom by 8:15a.m. 
• If student is only in the building for 90 minutes or less during the school day, it will be marked a full day absent.
